> Problem about the competition schedule

Hi Ajay,

We never got an email saying that the submission deadline was reset.
We just found out about it after seeing a question from a participant on the forum.
The participant said he received an email about the schedule change. Is the email only sent to certain participants?

Why are the organizer suddenly resetting the submission deadline?
The origanizer must clearly state in the notice any issues that may cause unfairness, such as delays in submission deadlines.

Moreover, the WMT21 page(http://statmt.org/wmt21/triangular-mt-task.html) has not been updated with the schedule at all.

Sincerely,
Jeonghyeok Park

Hi,

I sent an email to ALL registered all codalab Jul 19. 2021. Could you please check your 'codalab' registered email, you should have received it.

This was in response to an issue in codalab that some of you raised, due to which submissions could not be uploaded and only changed by 3 days (not to create any unfair advantage to any registrants).

Hi,

We just checked the mail sent by the organizer in the spam mailbox.
It's our fault for not checking spam.

However, if you are hosting the next competition, please pay attention to the following points.
1. Participants most often visit the website (CodaLab) where they submit their test results. So, if there are any changes, the first thing to do is to let the participants know at CodaLab.
2. As in our case, there may be cases where you cannot receive or check your mail. Therefore, please inform participants of the change using any notification available method, such as the WMT homepage, CodaLab, or mail.

Glad this is sorted out.

Regarding point 1, just to clarify, we did mail from Codalab (through the 'send message to all participants' feature in Codalab admin page) and updated the deadlines on Codalab homepage. We had noticed previously that announcements on forums would sometimes not show up in registrants inbox. But the Codalab mail feature lets us send emails to all participants directly (to their registered email addresses) and cannot be missed. Unfortunate that it ended up in your spam folder.

Your point regarding multiple notifications through many channels is duly noted. Thanks for your feedback!

Organizers.
