Will it be possible to submit predictions for the validation to get a score? So, something in the same fashion as in Kaggle where you keep the pulse of your progress before submitting the final test predictions.

In fact it is recommended in order to track your progress.
Look at "evaluation" to see the evaluation and format of the prediction file to submit it to obtain your score.
Please note that in the public leader board the results that will be shown correspond to the last submission of each team (not the best one).

all the submissions performed during the first phase are again validation set. Therefore, if you submit a prediction you will get the score, and you are able to see your progress. We encourage all the participants to test their predictions.
